Course content

Graduate course teaching applied numerical equilibrium modeling for energy, environmental, and climate economics. Covers formulating partial and general equilibrium models as mixed complementarity problems in GAMS, modeling energy supply and demand (electricity, natural gas, coal), and evaluating carbon policy instruments (carbon taxes, emissions trading) including interactions with the macroeconomy. Combines input lectures on economic theory and numerical methods with a supervised group project, in which students apply the full modeling workflow — data preparation, model calibration, scenario design, and result interpretation — to an original research question in energy/environmental economics.

Course content

Undergraduate required course on organizational economics, covering why organizations exist, forms organizations take, and how firms set goals, strategies, and organizational structures. Included strategic firm decision-making and, as with the introductory course, a module on moving from a research question to a causal relationship, illustrated with selected empirical studies on organizations.

Course content

Undergraduate course teaching industrial economics and the theory of markets and competition, from perfect competition to monopoly and strategic (game-theoretic) interaction between firms. Covers supply-and-demand analysis under perfect competition, monopoly pricing and price discrimination, and an introduction to strategic behavior among interdependent firms, building toward a unified framework for analyzing competitive processes across market structures. Taught the welfare comparison between competitive and monopolistic markets, giving students the analytical tools to assess real-world industry regulation and antitrust questions.

Course content

Undergraduate introductory course on business administration, covering the foundations of the field: business functions (procurement, production, sales, finance), organizational types and structures, corporate goals and strategy, and decision theory under risk and uncertainty (expected utility, behavioral anomalies, multi-stage and group decisions, game-theoretic interdependent decisions). Taught the transition from research question to causal identification (correlation vs. causation, spurious correlations), giving students an early grounding in empirical reasoning alongside the core business-economics content.
